The player can at any time freely choose whoever is best suited for the upcoming challenge or puzzle: The Wizard is able to summon objects to help solve puzzles and create new ways to overcome obstacles, the Thief uses her agility and dead-on accuracy to swiftly surprise the monsters, and the Knight unleashes mayhem and physical destruction wherever he goes. The gameplay is based on fully interactive physics - each character's different abilities help the player battle an army of undead and defeat hazardous contraptions. Set in a world of great castles and strange machinery, three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil. Graphics are good (and it's nice to play a game that is compatible with my relic of a 3D TV), music is enchanting, and it's not an overly long grind.Trine is a fantasy action game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies. I got it and its 3 sequels for something like $15 on Playstation Store, and the first game was almost worth the price right there. Of course, that's just me being old and not adapting back from the previous game quickly enough.

It also irked me that I'd just finished a game where the attack buttons were the same as the "switch character" buttons were in this one, so I'd be ready to whack a skeleton as the knight, but suddenly, I'd be the wizard, poofing into the thief. The thief's grapple hook mechanic was really the only thing that irked me about the game as it often seemed to want to go the wrong way (especially the last level where bad stuff happens if you aren't precise). There's some replayability as you try to collect some extra trophies and maybe solve a puzzle more quickly as you replay boards with an upgraded set of skills.
